I use the Universal Waite Deck for my readings and so my interpretation of this is based on the picture here.
Meaning: Shifting values and attitudes - realigning with Divine Will.
When i look at this card i see a person that is holding the "light". They feel divinely protected, and are happy and comfortable with themselves. They have their self respect intact and purity of intent. They also have harnessed their own emotions and in the process they are able to provide guidance and wise counsel to others. They may even be working in the "Healing" modalities, or as a counsellor in mainstream. Either way they have the capacity to show people the direction to their own path. When others around them are overwhelmed and feel that they are in the midst of "dark days", the seeker in this layout, has the capacity to show them some insight or point them in a direction to finding their own light. This card speaks of a level of fearlessness as well, as they totally trust their Divine protection.
Upright:
When this card appears in the upright position, it reminds a pesson that power lies within each of us. when we harness our emotions, and put the focus of our attention on light and positive, then we create this around us -regardless of what his happening within our environment. It refers to knowing what triggers us and takes us away from our sense of light, love and Divine support, and taking responsiblity for our own emotions, feelings, thoughts and actions, and making a conscious decision to remain positive despite the external influences. This choice and decision IS our POWER. Life is not what has happened to us, it is who we are and how we respond/react.
Our quality of life is not a result of events, situations, people and issues, it is a direct result of our ability to respond creatively or reactively. IN the process we create our own destiny, as the way we view the world and our experiences affects the decisions we make in our lives and the path we choose to walk. Many of us are walking the same path, but some people choose to focus their attention and thoughts on the lack, and become disillusioned, discontent and even bitter, while others on the same path remain upbeat, bright and positive throughout.
