Spiritual Hygiene
Most people recognise that good overall health and wellbeing include paying attention to their physical hygiene and ensuring that bacteria are regularly removed, reducing the risk of developing or worsening health problems. Where physical hygiene includes activities such as diet, oral and dental care, and bathing, showering and treating injuries, spiritual hygiene is the process of caring for our 'energy' - the aura and chakra on a daily, weekly and regular basis to remove any energetic debris that could lead to depletions within the energy systems, that promote emotional imbalances and lastly physical health problems. Learn more about what you can do to maintain your energetic health here.

About
Spiritual Hygiene is an energetic process- much like our physical hygiene, when neglected, our overall health and well-being can become compromised. It helps to compare it to the physical hygiene where there are activities for simple 'maintenance' (such as washing your hands before eating and after going to the toilet), a daily shower or bath offers a more intensive and complete 'removal of bacteria and skin and helps to calm any skin conditions'. As with physical hygiene, such as showering, bathing, washing hands and cleaning teeth, there are some energetic activities we can do daily for optimal health.
Personal activities that you can do daily include the purification of your aura and chakras (which can be completed as one brief activity), Centring and Grounding, and Aura Protection. By doing these activities daily, you can keep your energy stable, balanced and harmonious and in the best energetic space to respond to any challenges. Aura Protection helps maintain healthy boundaries with the people you meet throughout the day. It ensures that your energy, time, and emotions are not compromised. Examples of Daily spiritual hygiene include the clearing and purification of the aura and chakra systems (which cand be done as one activity while under your physical shower or while in the bath), followed up with an aura protection activity, and then centering an grounding as you feel you need to (but at least daily - at the end fo the day before going to sleep if not first thing in the morning).

Environmental hygiene also impacts our physical and 'energetic health'.As with house work and keeping your environment 'clear and clean' and vibrating at higher levels – these generally require potentially some light and easy activities such as aromatherapy, essential oils, placement of crystals to keep the home energy in harmony, however a person can also shield the home from external energies that are less than love, and also do a weekly overhaul. Think of it as if you have your physical house, you place a mat at the front door for people to wipe their feet before entering, which minimises tracking dirt into the home; however, you will still need to sweep and mop your floors at least weekly – even if it is simply to remove dust. From an energetic perspective, the dust would be equivalent to 'dross' or stagnant energy. The environment is known as a 'space' (which could be your home or workplace), and the process of uplifting the energy of that 'space' is called "Space Clearing". To keep the space clear, you do the protection (to act as the door mat), then the clearing (to act as the mop, broom, and duster). There are multiple ways to clear a space, including sound, scent, and crystals. Often, these methods require money to purchase the items, whereas visualisations are free.
As with the home, there are daily maintenance activities, and a more detailed approach is required every week. For example, the energetic equivalent of washing the dishes and cleaning the 'wet space' and spills that happen daily can be compared to using purifying essential oils - Aromatherapy, incense, or crystals. However, when there is 'high traffic' (energetically, this could mean a lot of emotional stress, distress, and so forth), a little more effort is needed to ensure the home's environmental energy remains harmonious. Ways to maintain the home or space's energy can include visualisations and invocations for protection and purification, which ideally are conducted weekly, but as a person feels 'drawn to doing'.
You can access some Creative Visualisations on this site to help you clear your space, both environmentally and personally, in an easy, quick way. The only requirements are an understanding of breath use, imagination (which can be developed and improves with practice), sometimes the use of invocation, and the ability to clearly outline the intention or purpose of the visualisation activity. As with all new activities, when first doing them, they require more focus, effort, and time. The more we practice and do them, the easier they become, and ultimately, these practices become effortlessly embedded in our daily or weekly routine. To put it into perspective, it takes less effort because there is 'less to clear', because we are maintaining the aura and chakras daily, and because "practice makes perfect.

Breath/Breathing
In this activity the focus is purely on the breath and breath cycle. As with all activities, you start by creating the space or environment to do the breathing. It doesn't need to be a meditation room - it can be adapted for use anywhere, including at the park. The space is one where you will not be interrupted, and you might have limited time, in which case you would put a cap on the time and include that as part of your 'intention'. For example: The intention is to calm and centre yourself, to help you to relax and let go of any stress and worries for 'ten minutes', while focussing on the breath. (Note: You can adapt the intention as you like and for different purposes).
For a simple centering activity - you could start with three deep and cyclical breaths - a count of four or five is adequate, you then allow your breathing to self regulate but you pay specific intention to the Ins, holds, outs and holds. Its not necessary to visualise (although this can be part of an adaptation). Instead you focus on the breathing (in through the nose and out through the mouth):
Inhale, two, three,
Hold the inward breathe.. two, three,
Exhale.. two... three
Hold the empty space,...two.. three..
NOTE: Adaptations for breath meditations include for guidance, and where the intention is stated in advance "Meditating for connection and access to guidance to resolve x problem" combined with 'I am open to recieving divine guidance around solutions for my problem/, and I ask for conscious recollection of information and will act upon my hunches under grace in the divine way'. Then once the breathing starts you can add mantras to the breath cycle "Download the data, download the data'.
NOTE 2: You can follow the same approach when doing a 'conscious meditation', but the mantras would be "I am relaxed, my body is relaxed, my mind is alert".

Aura and Chakra System Purification - Daily
The "Intention" of this activity is to remove energetic or 'etheric' debris from your aura, purify and detoxify your energy fields, which include emotional 'dross' or heaviness, as well as align your chakras and calibrate them for optimal function. Your auric layers should be smooth and free of any rips and tears. If your belief and faith system includes a Creator, Guides and/or Guardians, you could invoke them at this point before getting under your shower. The invocation should be for 'the purification and detoxification and alignment of both the Aura and Chakra systems for the perfect function.'
You can do this activity as a visualisation with or without getting under your physical shower; however, when you first start doing this activity, it is easier to visualise while under the shower and washing your hair.
State the Intention before or just after getting under your physical shower; as you step under the shower, do a breath repetition of 3-5 cycles (sacred breathing) while visualising:
The water from the shower flows from the 'heavens' in a stunning blue and white that pours down on you over the top of your head and down the entire length of your body. As it flows the length of your body, it is washing away any impurities in your aura and taking any energetic dross, clearing and cleansing the entirety of your aura, and funnelling it away to be further purified into the earth.
You may also decide to expand on this visualisation, and once you see the "light' in your mind get to your feet, you have it swirl around your body, coiling and snaking on the intake breath back up to the top of your head, and when you have the swirling light colour back to the top of your head on the out-breath, you give a sharp push from your diaphragm and push the purifying light down from your head, and through your entire physical body, down to the centre of the earth, purifying, clearing, centring and aligning the whole chakra system.
Tips:
Daily: For daily hygiene, you can do the activity in the morning before starting your day to ensure you begin your day fresh, clear and feeling upbeat. Or you can do it at the end of the day to help you feel clear, relaxed, and ready for sleep.
Colours: You can adjust the colours of the light according to your Intention: Sapphire Blue is both clearing, cleansing and protective. Lighter or paler blue enhances communication, helps a person feel at peace and in harmony and is especially beneficial just before going to sleep. White is pearlescent and encompasses all the colours of the rainbow, making it ideal for an energy or chakra-balancing activity. It will also leave you feeling energised and revitalised – so you could use the white in the morning before starting your day as a primary colour.
Illness: If you are struggling with physical or emotional illness, you could, after using the blue and white, do a visualisation with the Violet Flame. To learn more you can watch a video that lasts less than 20 minutes on Youtube by clicking on the image above.

Aura - Energy Alignment
This exercise will attune and balance your energy field and enable you to see yourself as more than a physical body - more than your emotions and more than your intellect. DO NOT FORCE -allow for a gentle "happening to occur" (forcing and straining is counterproductive and may end up creating a self-induced psychosis!), If you suffer from a mental health condition, this meditation MAY not be suitable for you - check with your GP or mental health practitioner.
Set the scene as with any meditation. Make yourself comfortable with your back straight.
Breathe deeply for about five breaths - big breaths in and big breaths out. Allow your breathing to settle to a more comfortable and more natural rhythm.
Slowly place your attention away from your environment and onto the IN and OUT of your breathing. Let go of all thoughts and any preconceived ideas. Allow your thoughts to come - and go, floating in and out like clouds in the sky.
Place your attention on your physical body, and notice where you may be holding onto some tension. Breathe deeply and evenly into the parts of your body that feel tense, and in your mind's eye, see the tension stretching out and relaxing. See the area become smooth and soft, and affirm to yourself, " I have a physical body - and I am more than my physical body.
Now place your attention on your emotional body. Be aware of your feelings in this moment. Do an inventory or scan of your feelings, your emotions. Breathe into these feelings and see yourself letting them go. See them fade away as you breathe into them. Affirm to yourself, " I have an emotional body - and I am more than my emotional body.
Now shift your awareness to your Mental body. Note your thoughts, and notice the activity in your mind. Notice any Mind chatter. Breathe deeply and slowly into your mind, asking it for quiet. Release all thoughts until you arrive at your place of stillness. Take a moment to feel the stillness with and affirm," I have a mental body, and I am more than my mental body.
Focus your attention now onto your Crown- the uppermost point of your head and affirm to yourself " I AM centre of pure awareness and higher spirit". Allow yourself to FEEL the experience that this statement brings to you. FEEL the power and the grace as new energy flows through you.
See yourself as an energetic and living field that has consciousness and love. This love flows to you from an Infinite source. You can send this love to others in many ways. Affirm to yourself, "I AM in the flow of my power. I AM a Channel of power and that power is LOVE".
TIPS: You can do this or a similar activity weekly. If you are under stress, you may do this activity daily as part of encouraging emotional self-regulation and balance across your aura. It is also an activity that you can use to 'raise your personal awareness' or your personal levels of light vibration.

Aura and Chakra Clearing and Purification Activity
With this activity you are clearing and purifying your entire auric body by visualising and focussing on the properties and attributes of the tree. The tree, of course, is nature's gift for purifying the air and supporting our healthy breathing in the physical context. At the same time - a well developed tree is tall and strong, with solid foundations and expansive branch and root systems. This visualisation is largely a 'breathing activity' that combines centring and grounding, as well as purification, and takes about five or ten minutes.
Process:
Start by focussing on your breath, taking three deep breaths down into your diaphragm using the breathing technique, repeating three times before allowing your breath to regulate itself and slow down.
In your mind's eye, see yourself as a tree. Your branches are stretched upward to the sky, and your roots plunging deeply into the earth. Your trunk is straight and strong. The four elements, which nourish and sustain you. The sun warms you, and the air refreshes you, your roots extend to the underground source of water.
As you inhale, you draw in through your branches the sun's and the air's breath, and you bring this breath into your trunk all the way down to your roots, and exhale it into the underground water streams.
On the next inhale, you breathe in through your roots, bringing the revitalising, nurturing, and purifying water up through your trunk into your branches, and breathe out into the elements of air and sun.
Repeat the two sequences for 5 to 10 minutes, then allow the visual to fade away. Allow yourself to feel your feet firmly on the floor or ground and own the space around you. Sense the connectedness.
TIP: you can turn this into a physical activity if the weather is supportive, by standing againts a tree, or touching a tree with a flat palm against the trunk and imagining yourself and entire being merging with the tree itself or you could stand or sit with your back resting up against the tree, and your feet bare upon the ground.

Purification - Prismatic Light/ Rainbow
This activity aims to purify, and balance the aura and chakras. You could use it as part of your daily spiritual hygiene OR you could use it as a First Aid Remedy when you start to feel overhwelmed and distressed to refill your 'being' with joy and peace, or when you are feeling sad or stuck and stagnating. It will help to release the old habits and thinking patterns that stop you from shifting forward.
Prismatic light is the facets of the rainbow, or we could even say "healing with light' but from a visualisation perspective. It helps the imagination to think of prismatic light as the reflective light you see when holding crystal chandeliers up to sunlight, where the colours change as the glass is moved. A faceted glass prism will sparkle the colours of the rainbow. Our bodies (and energy fields) are like prisms, reflecting light and energy to those around us. Our body structure is crystalline. Our bones, blood, organs and tissues are all conglomerates of crystals that we call cells or molecular structure. We are vibrating, and resonating membranes of light. From a psychological and emotional perspective, rainbows have always been symbols of hope and a bridge between heaven and earth. Children will often draw rainbows in their pictures from an early age, hoever, we don't need to be a child to take pleasure in the rainbow or to be excited when we see one in the sky.
Process:
Imagine a column of the prismatic light descending from the highest of high celestial realms, surrounding you. As you see yourself standing in the column imagine that the rainbow colours are emanating from it, changing and alternatiing both within and around you.
Breathe the rainbow light deep into your 'body to a core level'. This light radiates an energy of revitalisation, bringing inspiratin, hope and a new zest for life. Allow this universal energy to pour through your entire body.
After about 5 or ten minutes, allow the image to fall away naturally, and stamp your feet to ground yourself after the activity.

Aura Maintenance - Taking out the Trash
This activity is primarily an energy maintenance activity, for when you feel you have 'picked up energy that is not yours', as outlined in the 'energy sharing' content. Remember, not all experiences carry a 'lesson to be learned' or some subliminal message. Often it's simply a matter of 'stuff happening'. Such as going to the shops or a public space and walking or sitting close to another person who may not appear to be experiencing an emotional state but could actually be working through in their mind some anger, grief, or whatever is happening for them. We refer to it as "trash' because it's uncomfortable energy that doesn't belong to you. It is usually identified by feeling unsettled for no apparent reason, or by carrying an emotion (anger, grief, sadness, or so forth) that is inexplicable. It occurred AFTER an interaction with a person. It doesn't have to be face-to-face - sometimes it can happen after a phone call or a social media interaction. Rather than judge the experience as good or bad, accept that the feelings are there, bless the source, don't take it personally, and don't become frustrated or annoyed with yourself for taking on board other people's energy. You could do this straightforward breathing activity, followed by a boundaries activity or energy protection activity if you are feeling particularly vulnerable or compromised.
Process:
As always, start with the breath, a couple of deeper breaths followed by a slowing down of the breath as it regulates itself.
Visualise yourself in your 'mind's eye, brushing your aura and your energy field, with a lint comb or similar (even a feather), removing all the energy dross and debris from your aura into a 'bag'.
Once you have finished combing your aura, seal the bag and see yourself walking to a fire that has purple flames (the Violet flames of Transmutation).
Throw or place the bag into the fire of Transmutation, so that the dross energy can be converted to happy and healthy, positive energy, for distribution wherever it is needed on the planet, as part of serving the 'highest good'.
TIP: If you struggle to meditate or visualise, you can actually physically do some actions to reinforce your intention and help you to focus. This physical activity could be brushing your hands along your arms and legs, and then 'flicking the dross energy' out into the 'ethers' (not the best option because it needs to be purified), perhaps do the physical actions and imagine yourself flicking your fingers into a bag and taking it to the Fire of Transmutation.
TIP 2: Be creative - you might use a 'psychic vacuum' instead of a lint comb that 'sucks up all the energetic 'lint and grit' into a bag for disposal.

Golden Light Meditation
By working with the Golden Light daily for a week, you will always have this energy available to you, even when you are unaware or forget. The Golden Light is pure and of the highest vibrations and good intentions for you. It also resonates with the highest vibrations of truth and integrity. It is an excellent strategy for maintaining your personal aura and energy, as part of energy maintenance. Once you have embedded the Golden Light into your aura, aura maintenance can be an affirmation, or, if you have time, a short meditation repeating the process. Golden Light is protective and helps keep you positive and identify the truth when you are experiencing internal conflict. It is creative and helps keep you positive, upbeat, kind, compassionate, and loving.
Process
Start with a focus on your breath - in this instance, aim for the count of 7 (the Sacred Breath); however, be realistic if you can only do breaths to the count of 3, that is perfectly adequate. Take three deep breaths, deep into your diaphragm, and then allow your breath to regulate.
Visualise the universal energy of light coming through to your crown with each in- and out-breath, creating a beautiful ball of Golden Light (the golden colour of the sun) above your crown. Affirm to yourself, "I AM the Golden Light, I AM"
With each breath, the ball grows larger and larger until it envelops your entire body.
Continue to breathe this light in and out, filling your entire egg-shaped aura with the light of truth and positivity, allowing you to feel safe and protected, loved and loving.
Hold the vision for about 5 or 10 minutes or until it starts to dissipate. Upon completion, ground yourself.
TIP: Once you have created this energy (after a week of daily practice), it will always be available to you. If you start to feel overwhelmed, by either your experiences or someone else's energy - simply do a couple of breaths while affirming "I AM the Golden Light, I AM".

Centring wtih the Rainbow
This activity draws upon the light of the Rainbow to maximise the function of each Chakra and to centre, balance, and stabilise your chakra system (and Aura). Typically, we can use White Light (because it reflects all the other colours of the Rainbow); however, using the rainbow ball of light can be helpful for healing visualisations for each Chakra. Once again, it relies on the breathing strategies of the 'Sacred Breath'. You can do it daily, weekly or even more often if you are experiencing some significant life challenges. It's vital to ensure you ground properly upon completing the activity. You can find extra activities for centring and grounding by visiting here.
Process
Start by taking about three deep breaths, then let your breath take its natural rhythm. Allow your mind to relax and let go of any thoughts and words, so that you can BE present in this moment right now. BE in the rhythm of your breath.
In your mind's eye, visualise a ball of light above your head. This ball represents your Soul or "Higher Self Aspect". In your mind's eye, see another second ball of light above your Higher Self Ball. This second ball is larger and represents the Source of all living things.
Now observe a beam of rainbow coloured light entering your crown from the Source. As it enters into your crown, it passes through your soul - the core of your BEING. Feel and sense the crown chakra taking the colour that it needs to expand and release.
Now watch the Rainbow coloured light enter your third eye (brow chakra), releasing anything that is no longer serving your Highest Good into the Source for transmutation. Feel the Rainbow light entering your third eye and feel the colour that it is drawing upon for expansion and release.
Now you observe with your mind's eye, the rainbow light entering your throat. Once again, releasing that which it no longer needs back to the Source, while at the same time filling the throat Chakra with the perfect colour it needs for your Highest Good.
Through your mind's eye, observe the rainbow light shifting into each of the rest of the chakras, first the Heart, then the Solar Plexus, followed by the Sacral and finally the base. Each Chakra, is filled with the perfect light it needs for its proper function and releases that which is no longer needed. Each Chakra expands by drawing on the colours it needs to support and promote your highest good and best function.
When the Base Chakra is balanced, send the rainbow light down your legs and into the earth, distributing it throughout the world as needed. Upon completion, visualise a smile in each Chakra.
TIP: Your comfort and ease are the priority. Everyone is different, and some people find it easier to visualise the chakras as coloured balls. In contrast, others see them as 'funnels' and yet others as a lotus flower. Visualise in a way that is comfortable for you.
TIP 2: Don't call for or try to direct the colour or shade into the Chakra; this activity will show you exactly the shade and hues you need. Each Chakra has an intelligence of its own and will absorb the colour/s that you need for YOUR perfect balance and function right NOW.

Boundary Protection and Maintenance
When it comes to our spiritual or energy boundaries, the first indicators of a compromise are feelings of depletion and a sense of emotional or psychological instability. Other times, we experience relationship conflict and tension. Significant challenges can occur in more intimate relationships, such as with partners and family, especially if there is an imbalance in giving and receiving that has been there for a long time. Relationship boundaries need regular review and maintenance once established, and they can be challenging to set in existing and long-term relationships if there have never been firm boundaries in place before.
Boundaries also need review and maintenance because even the strongest boundaries (and people) can become 'worn down', especially when multiple challenges occur at once. When we have a lot 'going on', we tend to 'focus on the bigger problems' and, for survival, often adopt an attitude of 'don't sweat the small stuff', or 'pick your battles' and let the smaller, less life-threatening stuff slide for another 'time'. However, each of those 'small stuffs ', when ignored, end up becoming bigger over time, and ultimately one will become the 'straw that broke the camel's back'., resulting in an escalated emotional reaction, and potentially some life-changing decisions or actions that are made in the heat of the moment and often regrettable.
However, even if we have what is called 'strong boundaries', they can become compromised under different circumstances -potentially when dealing with multiple challenges at once. For instance, many people must work as part of a team for employment purposes, while acting as a parent and role model, a caregiver to elderly parents, and as a husband or wife. It is easy to overlook self-care when caring for everyone else, and boundary compromises can catch us unaware and lead to a lack of physical or emotional health. When we focus on maintaining our spiritual or energetic boundaries, it helps us to recognise what is going on in the physical environment and our relationships to others, and when we need to (for our own health) communicate our needs to relevant parties, learn to say NO to additional requests or navigate better outcomes for our own health and wellbeing. From a spiritual hygiene perspective, boundary exercises and activities help us become more aware and stay on top of any energy sharing, transfer, or projection of emotional or psychological issues. As with all 'safekeeping and security' the nature of risk will identify the type of protection you need or would benefit from, and so an 'earthing activity' or Grounding and Centering is recommended to be completed regularly, which will bring to your conscious recognition of how unsafe you feel (if you feel unsafe), and how intense the protection needs to be. These activities aim to raise personal awareness in ways that are helpful and empowering. For instance, a person who lives in a safe part of town and has lockable windows and doors with security features will feel relatively secure in their environment and be comfortable simply using Purifying techniques regularly. If residents are receiving threats of violence, they may feel the need to 'bump up the protection' by adding a guardian. If they are 'energy workers' or 'spirit mediums, ' they may also bump up the protection around the home to ensure that the space remains energetically safe for them. Another person might live in an unsafe part of town, with lots of break-ins and home invasions, and have security on their home but wants to add another layer of security through doming and invigilation. Yet another person may be homeless and street sleeping and have no safe environment whatsoever. Hence, the only options for them are to have robust personal protection, such as placing themselves in a 'bubble of protection' and using strategies such as guardians and invocation. We create the type of protection we need, based on what is happening both internally and externally.
TIP: Inflexible and intense boundary protection (and unnecessary) may repel ALL social interactions with the people around you, feeling that you carry an 'oppressive' or 'defensive energy' and they are intimidated from raising any issues with you. When protection is too flexible and soft, the person is at heightened risk of 'energy sharing' or 'attachments' and of taking on problems that aren't theirs. These people often describe themselves as empaths and state they can't control it – which is misguided. They need to regularly review and strengthen the boundaries.

Boundary Review - Personal
Reviewing your personal energetic boundaries is a straightforward technique that, once you learn it and practice it, can be done relatively quickly in a few reflective moments. It involves the breath, and while visualising and using the 'sight' can be helpful, it is actually more reliant on the senses and 'feelings' in raising awareness of the subconscious to the conscious. You can do this exercise when doing any aura and chakra balancing activity because they will all encourage you to start by breathing energy into your aura. Your aura, of course, is egg-shaped. Under perfect circumstances, with developed clairvoyance, you will see in your mind's eye that you are centred within the aura, about 1.5 m above and below, right, left, front and back of your body. When you are breathing the energy into your aura, you may notice that you need to breathe more times to 'puff the aura' out to 1.5 meters, OR you may notice that one of the aura spaces is more than 1.5 meters, in which case it's time to 'contract' the auric boundaries (i.e., adjust them). Generally speaking, daily events influence us, so our central body system may shift in different directions within the aura, which is one of the reasons we do 'centring activities' (it's not just about aligning the chakra system, but also about aligning ourselves within our aura). The review of the aura is really good for bringing subconscious concerns to conscious awareness. For instance, if you notice that you have to draw a lot of breath into the auric space behind you, this can mean a few things for your exploration. Generally speaking, it can refer to being emotionally or psychologically overwhelmed and addressing challenges and feeling as though your 'back is to the wall', someone, something or life has pushed you into a position of feeling that there is nowhere to go but forward if you compare this to a person in the physical sense who is addressing physical challenges (including bullies blocking the path), once our 'back is to the wall', there are not many places to go except forward. Because our human bodies are constructed with survival reflexes and mechanisms, this is often when a person believes they have to come out' punching' to clear their pathway. Other times (for example, recovering from mental illness), sometimes clearing and creating the space behind (at the rear of the aura), is about giving a person space to step back from their problems and review the situations and options for moving forward "the dance of life – one step forward, side, side, one step backward, side side. When we remain psychologically in a space of not reviewing or stepping back, we limit not only our vision and perspective but also our opportunities to be creative in problem-solving.
Other examples we can use as learning opportunities from reviewing our aura are whether we are centred (above and below) within it. If we are feeling low down in the aura (where we need to do additional breaths into our aura below our feet to allow us to be centred in the auric space), this can indicate we are becoming overwhelmed by material and physical concerns, not necessarily listening to our intuitive guidance and focused on generating money and our 'base needs'. Regarding the left and right sides of our bodies, our writing hand is considered the dominant hand. It refers to the 'masculine pursuits' of 'provide and protect'. In contrast, the non-dominant hand is considered 'feminine' and associated with family, nurturing, and love. If the feminine side is feeling 'tight', this might indicate a need to review family boundaries and pay extra attention to self-care (especially if you have a caring role for your children, aged parents, or siblings). If the masculine side is feeling tight, it might indicate a need to review your work load, and see if you can delegate some tasks, or even speak to your employer about having realistic expectations of your work load -and sometimes this is about asking for additional training as part of enhancing your performance, sometimes it might bea bout asking for review of the delegation fo the workload.
TIP: If you do not have well-developed clairvoyance abilities or struggle with visualisation and imagination, you can still do this activity effectively by focusing on what it FEELS like in your body, as opposed to what your emotional feelings are when doing the breathing. You bring your awareness to your breathing and your physical sensations. You might not feel anything to start with. However, as time goes on and with practice, you may feel tingling, pressure, pins/needles, cold/warmth, or other sensations when you do the breathing exercises. You will start to recognise what feels comfortable to you and what doesn't.
TIP 2: There are other activities that a person can do to maintain healthy boundaries and protection of their aura - including crystals and talismans.

Personal Boundary Protection
If you are around "energy workers" and/or "mental health workers" long enough, you will hear this term repeatedly. It does not necessarily refer to other people. Boundaries are all about YOU. People can only do or treat us the way we let them. Equally, if we are complacent about our own boundaries, we are likely to miss other people's boundaries or "lines in the sand". The byproduct of poor boundaries is hurt feelings and spending a lot of time reflecting on what/why/how/when. Until we understand and work on our own boundaries, we may lose a lot of valuable lifetime hours reflecting and wondering why people "can be so mean" or "why we feel so bad.
If you have no boundaries yourself, it is tough to recognise when another person is outlining their own. You may also find yourself continually reflecting on what you did or didn't do that might have warranted what you feel is an "excessive reaction' to something you said or did. The flip side of having loose boundaries is that if we haven't put them in place on a physical level, others around us will "stepping over" ours and potentially hurt our feelings. We may spend a lot of our time feeling hurt and uncared for (which isn't the case). By establishing healthy boundaries on the physical plane, we can achieve greater balance and stability in our lives.
So what's new?
Well, the thing is – what transpires on one level does indeed happen on another level. If you recognise that your boundaries are "a bit loose" as reflected by your environment, then they are no doubt "a bit loose" on a spiritual/emotional level as well. You quite possibly pick up on other people's feelings and energy, and say, "I'm an empath – I can't help it!" The reality is – yes, you can help it! If you DO want to make stronger spiritual and emotional boundaries to protect your own aura from picking up "unwanted energy" and to prevent yourself from projecting your energy onto innocent "others". Then you may find some of the techniques and explanations valuable.
I am aware that the empath feels that "they can't help it. With all due respect, I would like to consider that the inference here is that they can't control their own auric levels or energy transfer. If they trust in the DIVINE process, understanding that Divine energy is infinite, then all things are possible. Anything can be done, and the ONLY thing blocking them from achieving this possibility is the perception that they have no control. What we believe – we create. So, if an empath THINKS they have no control, then this is precisely how things will remain until they choose to re-pattern their thought processes and accept that they are not a victim of DIVINE energy but instead of their limiting thought patterns. They will then take responsibility for their boundaries and auric protection, and function at a much healthier level within their physical relationships and interactions, as well as within their spiritual energy activities such as healing and readings.
I realise that some people will find this disturbing as the capacity "to feel another person's pain" is how they establish their responses, particularly if they are "healers" or "psychics". What I suggest is that they review their communication methods and adopt healthier, more streamlined approaches for themselves and their clients. Energetically, in extreme instances, the interpretation of a 'psychic attack' or 'extreme empathy' is basically just a spirit aura pressing in very closely to our own aura. Imagine if you will (or can) that the spirit 'body' comes into your auric field (the egg shape) and presses up against your chakra system. Other times, it can be on the periphery of your aura and extending cords into your chakra - an example of this is when a spirit has not been to the light and is feeling full of the heavy emotions such as sadness, grief, sorrow and loss and even guilt. They feel the 'light', happiness, and love of a person (or people), and one of the common things they can do is place a cord into the heart chakra or the solar plexus chakra, which, for them, is essentially a shortcut to feeling safe, secure, and warm or more powerful. However, the bottom line is it's not comfortable for the person who has the 'attachment', and it also brings undesirable karmic consequences for them, so it's understandable that from a spirit perspective, these kinds of souls are referred to as 'lost souls' or 'negative entities' and 'negative attachments'. Either way, the removal of 'attachments' is simply another activity of 'cord cutting', followed by aura purification and then boundary protection.

Environmental Purification and Protection
The bottom line is that we can take care of our personal protection, but we would also be wise to focus on keeping our environment clear. When it comes to protecting our environment energetically, it is also a form of ‘boundaries’, and the boundaries need to be firm enough to keep negative energy out, but not repel the ‘positive stuff’. Also, if we are focusing on boundaries and sealing the energy of a home, for instance, we need to make sure we regularly clear and cleanse the house to avoid ‘locking in the stagnant or negative energy’. Hygiene for the home or space is where we aim to keep the energy ‘high vibration’ and ‘light’, and the environmental boundaries are flexible enough to allow for those people of good intent or purity of intent to be able to enter the premises (upon invitation) and where those of questionable or ‘dark intent’ are repelled from entering. However, if your workspace includes other people (and you have no control over who is employed – or if you run a business and have customers come in and out), then our boundary protection should respect the free will of all in non-judgmental ways. To keep the energy of the space ‘high’, you may need to do more purification and clearing activities – such as at the beginning or end of the day. If there is an ‘obvious’ problem that occurs, or you notice tensions in the space throughout the day, you can do an additional clear and cleanse and potentially review the environmental boundaries again. There are considerations for the shared space as well, such as the fact that some people are sensitive to aromas and smells, so we may not be able to use them. Other options could include the placement of crystals to purify the space; however, in most instances, those crystals that are ‘space clearing’ require regular cleaning themselves.
TIP: People living in group housing or shared accommodation will face challenges in protecting their 'space'. If they rent rooms, they could consider placing protective crystals in their personal (non-shared) space, invoking guardians and angels as protectors of the room, and putting more intention on reinforcing the personal protective boundaries, and consider using amulets and crystals for personal protection.
TIP: A vehicle is also an 'environment', and when travelling, you can put your car in a 'blue bubble' (and even a plane).

Environment Activities
Candles
Candles add a layer of protection and purification by drawing upon the power of 'fire', which 'burns up any environmental dross'. They are popular with metaphysicians because this 'burning of dross' ensures the space remains high, and any lower-vibration energy and entities are repelled from entering. Hence, they are popular in churches and religious spaces. Ideally, they would be good to use in a shared workspace, to clear the atmosphere at the start and end of the day; however, many rental spaces (including business spaces) have clauses about not using candles due to the risk of naked flame, which acts akin to an 'atmospheric dust buster'. there is also the added risk of where the candle is placed, including whether it is on a candle holder. Many houses have burned down because of a 'tealight candle' placed directly onto flammable furniture, such as wooden tables, or next to an open window where the curtains have caught on fire. Candles are popular among metaphysical workers and in some faiths, where ritual is associated. Ritual candle use often involves specific colours to reinforce the ritual's intention. They are perfect for activities that are meant to 'raise vibration' by drawing upon the four elements: air, fire, earth, and water. You can combine three of the four with an essential oil burner, where the aroma of the oil is the air element, the candle provides the fire element, and the water the oil is dispersed in obviously reflects the water element. Of course, they reflect energetically: thought, mind, and divine ideas combined with passion and activity, and emotional harmony and peace.

Essential Oils - Purification and Protection
Essential oils reflect purification of the atmosphere through the power of smell and air. You don't need to be 'spiritual' to use them, and you can use them in many ways. There is some evidence that certain essential oils can support emotional health and well-being. On the flip side, there is no evidence to support the concepts of protection and purification. The rule of thumb is that plants such as lavender and sandalwood invoke calm and carry basic protective properties by repelling lower-vibration energy and entities. Frankincense and Myrrh (popular choices across all religious faiths) are believed to have stronger purification and protective qualities, including the ability to deter spirit entities that have yet to go to the light. Hence, these oils are popular for people conducting house clearings and for situations where there has been a 'psychic attack'. You can use them with electric aromatherapy distillers to help uplift, purify and maintain the vibration of your space.
TIP: Clearing activities for time-poor people at the end of the day: Get a spray bottle and fill it with distilled water, then add a few drops of your preferred essential oil. Shake the bottle and then spray the rooms - ensuring that you spray toward the ceiling and into the corners of rooms or anywhere in the room that you feel that the energy is a 'little heavier'. Frankincense and Myrrh are costly, whereas lavender and sandalwood are usually cheaper options. Whatever essential oils you use, do your research and establish any contraindications. You can experiment with oil blends and may add oils such as rose and rose geranium to help open the heart chakra.
TIP: Many therapists and healers like to use essential oils, and while this is helpful, there are times when aromatherapy is counterproductive, such as for people on the Autism spectrum who have heightened olfactory sensory problems. They may find the scents overwhelming or repugnant, which distracts them from deriving benefit from the interaction.
TIP: You may consider using incense and burners as a cheaper option. Once again, use care, as many people will react to the smell or 'smoke' and find it uncomfortable. Go for subtle scents when in a shared space, though if the incense is used at the end of the day, it may work well for getting the environment ready for visitors the next morning.

Reiki and Energy Modalities - Purification and Protection
Reiki (and likely other) modalities have energy strategies to protect both personal space, the environmental space, and for energy clearing (including entitity shifting). You can send and generate energy for the specific requirment and also combine it with other healing activities such as sound, mantras and even physical movements - clapping hands in 'stagnant energy pockets' while invoking and sending healing energy.

Orgones - Purification and Protection
Orgones are manufactured and generally in the form of a pyramid. When manufactured, they tend to have a specific purpose determined by the creator (including purification and protection). Orgones are created to draw on the energy of Sacred Geometry and the power of crystals. When buying one, you would not only look at the orgone's intention and purpose, but also the crystals used. Ideally, the orgone and crystals will at least purify the environment or space of any stagnant and dross energy, while uplifting the energy's vibration to 'light and loving'.

Crystals - Purification and Protection
Crystals are an excellent addition to any home, and beyond their aesthetic appeal and ornamental value, they also carry specific energy. The rule of thumb is that black crystals are environmental purifiers or protectors; however, crystals of other colours can also be used as purifiers and protectors. Popular choices for the home to keep vibrations high and repel lower ones include Tourmaline, Kyanite, Selenite, and more. However, it is essential to establish the care needed for each crystal that you place in your home (for example) because crystals such as black tourmaline act as 'sponges' soaking up any dross, and they need to be treated in specific ways and regularly to remove the lower energy and return the tourmaline to its vibrant state. From a hygiene perspective, think of the kitchen and cleaning cloths you have in your home - you don't use them continuously if you want to remain healthy. You will at least rinse them from time to time, and then, less frequently, you will clean them properly with a thorough wash and disinfectant. Ensure that you care for your crystals in ways that promote good energetic and spiritual health.

Salt - Purification and Protection
At some point, most people will find information on how to protect their home by sprinkling salt around all the perimeters and entry points to their homes (windows and doors). Some people may take it to the next level by putting salt around the entire perimeter of their property as part of 'boundary protection' or protecting the home space. It is not particularly practical and relies on repetition on a regular basis. Depending on how large your property is, it might actually be quite costly. The concept is based on the old Wiccan traditions. Some traditions include concepts such as hanging bunches of herbs (for example, lavender, sage and rosemary) by doors and windows.
There are other ways of using salt as well, such as in bowls in your wet areas, or around the home to purify the space. These bowls need to be emptied regularly and the salt replaced. The salt recommended is the salt crystals (less processed), and Himalayan pink salt has become popular.
Other salt purification practices include using Himalayan pink rock salt lamps or candle holders to purify and uplift the energy in the environmental space. These options are good for placing in children's bedrooms because they can act both as a night lamp and encourage healthy sleep for those children who suffer from anxiety or who have nightmares and night terrors.

Smudging - Purification
Smudging is the process of burning a herb and wafting the smoke into the environment (in a specific direction). Most people think of smudging and immediately link it to sage (a Native American Tradition); however, other plants can be used, such as Cedar and Palo Santo (which is becoming increasingly more popular). For Australians, Eucalyptus and Tea Tree are native options, but they are particularly flammable! Whatever plant you use, the idea is to bundle the small branches and leaves (unless you are using Palo Santo, which is sold in sticks). You light the bundle, let it flame, blow out the flames, and then let it smoulder in a stream of smoke. You can direct it upward toward the corners of your room to facilitate purification.
TIP: When you smudge - make sure you open the windows or doors to allow not only for stagnant energy to 'escape' but also to ensure that the air quality doesn't compromise breathing due to the smoke fumes.
TIP: Use a dish dedicated to purification and raising energy, such as an Abalone shell, to hold your herb bundle in place. At the same time, you waft the smoke with your other hand, or a feather. You can rest the smudging stick in the shell until all signs of fire and reignition are gone.
Caution: Ensure that the bundle is extinguished before putting it away.

Sound - Purfication and Protection
There is the power of sound, which can include the playing of music or even chanting and singing. Chanting includes mantras and the repetition of the OHM AUM (as an example). While a person can use the AUM to energise their personal energy field, it can also be used to heighten the vibration of a space, raising it so high that it repels anything lower or less than love.
For space clearing, you can also use things such as Tibetan Bowls, Crystal Bowls, Tuning or Toning Forks, Tibetan Bells and Cymbals and much more. The idea is that you set the intention BEFORE commencing the sound activity, and work to raise the environmental energy to carry the 'maximum light for the highest good', or to raise the vibration of the space to the maximum it can carry for the greater good of people entering it. Where there might be stagnant energy, you can shake the bells into these areas or clap your hands to break it up (for instance, if it's a high ceiling, you would walk to the corners of the room and hold your hands or the bell up while making the sound and visualising the sound dispersing the stagnant energy for transmutation.
