Green Flower Agate (as with Black Flower Agate and Cherry Blossom Agate) is primarily sourced from Madagascar and, like the other agates, has translucent to opaque quartz bodies with mineral inclusions that resemble floral blooms or blossoms within the quartz. Typically, it forms within volcanic environments where lava flows create cavities filled with trapped gas and bubbles, and the blooms result from trace elements such as manganese, iron, and titanium. It is popular as a carved or tumbled stone. The stone itself can have soft shades of aqua green, mint or mossy tones that combine with the milky white blossoms, and there can be translucent banding. Metaphysical Attributes
Metaphysically, Green Flower Agate is very similar to the Cherry Blossom Agate, with the exception that rather than being the “Quan Yin Stone’ it is a ‘Gaia Stone’ or Mother Earth stone that supports connection to the Earth and the nature kingdom. It encourages deep emotional healing of the heart chakra, especially for those who have experienced deep betrayal from people they loved and trusted. An empowering crystal for new ways of thinking about betrayal that lead to forgiveness and acceptance of people for who and what they currently are (while at the same time teaching healthy relationship boundaries). The Green Flower Agate teaches at a core level that everyone is perfect right now, and that betrayals are part of the pathway; the lessons taught from betrayal are perfect opportunities for us to learn discernment and grow. Not everyone is trustworthy because they are also evolving, and not all betrayals are intentional. Betrayal and heartbreak can feel deeply personal, but usually the actions that lead to this heart break are less about us as individuals and more about the other person and their own evolution. Green Flower Agate teaches us to release judgement about the person, to let them follow their own path, recover from the lessons, and walk our own pathway. If you are working with Green Flower Agate, you might want to work with the Pink Flower Agate at the same time to heal heart chakra issues. Crystal Care
Due to its rarity, it is popular with both metaphysicians and other crystal collectors as a specimen, ornament, jewellery, or carving for metaphysical use. With a hardness of 6.5-7, Flower agate is fairly durable and can withstand most treatments, including water immersion, and is not believed to contain toxic minerals. As with most crystals, if your flower agate becomes dirty with dust or grime, you can usually safely wash it with tepid water and an organic cleaner, then dry it with a soft cloth. Prolonged exposure to water may destabilise the stone's integrity. You would need to ensure that you don’t place your crystals against those that are harder to ensure that they aren’t scratched, and you would not place your flower agate against softer crystals for the same reasons. If placing in the sun is part of your metaphysical clearing and charging routine, be mindful that the crystal is not overexposed (especially in Australia), as it may fade. Suitable alternatives for clearing and charging your flower agate include smudging with sage, cedar, juniper or palo santo (or other cleansing and purifying herbs and aromatherapy oils), sound healing (with tuning forks, crystal or Tibetan bowls and bells, sound drumming), energy healing, or placing it on another crystal with clearing and cleansing attributes, such as a selenite charging plate. Earthing by placing it outside in a sheltered part of the garden is also a suitable method of cleansing and recharging; a good strategy could be to place it in a ceramic potted plant and expose it to moonlight or filtered sunlight for a few hours or overnight for ‘gentle cleansing’. Earthing allows the stone energy to reconnect with the natural energy of “Mother Earth’ and reinvigorate and revitalise crystals that have become ‘drained’. Other methods for cleansing, clearing, and charging your crystals can include visualisation (seeing a bright, pure white light surrounding the crystal and clearing it of any negative energies to restore it to its natural energetic state) or using healing modalities such as reiki to cleanse and recharge it.
