Master and Power Numbers

On this page, we look at Master and Power Numbers, as well as the influence of 0, which is not a number but is part of mathematical and numerology calculations and carries its own power. While numbers carry feminine or masculine energy through associations with the Sun and the Moon, duplicated numbers in some Power Numbers align with a different energy. For instance, six is considered feminine, associated with the Moon, cycles, intuition, and so forth, but when duplicated as a Ruling number, 66, it reduces to the Number 3: 6+6=12=1+2=3. Number 3 is masculine, associated with the Sun, rational processing, and the power of the mind. Hence, a person with a 66 ruling number has the potential to unify mind and heart and use this energy for the greater good. If they have not done self-development activities, they may experience significant inner turbulence and even psychological disturbance by resisting their potential. The difference between Master and Power Number frequencies largely comes from the duplication of the original single numbers 1, 2, and 3, which resonate with intuitive aspects such as soul, spirituality, and love. In contrast, the other numbers, 4-9, tend to gravitate toward the practical and material world, though they are also deeply spiritual.
Master Numbers
Master Numbers occur when a number is duplicated during calculation of the birth number. In other numerological calculations, such as the peaks, these numbers are not reduced to a single digit. They remain 11, 22, or 33 unless the system you use requires reduction. Other double-digit numbers, such as 44 and 55, are power numbers and do not have the same Master status as 11, 22, and 33. (To clarify, some numerological schools do not consider 33 a Master Number but a Power Number). Master Numbers are believed to carry more potential than ordinary numbers, with greater intensity of vibration, deeper lessons, and a stronger influence on a person's life path. Master and Power Numbers amplify the power or energy of the number, along with the lessons to be learned or experienced, usually a spiritual or karmic challenge. While Master Numbers, especially Ruling or Day Numbers, have heightened energy, they also carry greater responsibility and deep purpose. It is understandable for numerology novices to believe that Master Energy is sunshine and roses and positive; however, this is a myth. Master Numbers do not always carry positive energy. Life has duality, including gifts and challenges. One challenge for those who carry a Master Number is to unify the gifts and face the challenges with humility and grace, as they can bring heavy burdens. Many people never achieve the potential of the Master Number, and having one does not guarantee enlightenment or success. Conversely, people without a Master Number can achieve great success because each number has its own path. We all, including those with Master Ruling Numbers, have free will. A Master Number will never override free will. For many people with a Master Number, this can include choosing to ignore and resist their potential. THE MASTERY OF THE NUMBERS CAN TAKE A LIFE TIME TO ACHIEVE. People with Master Numbers tend to experience intense trials and challenges (especially in childhood years), that may be repeated across the life path until such time as they develop the awareness and motivation to embrace their Life Purpose.

Power Numbers
Power numbers are similar to Master Numbers, except they don't carry the same intensity, for lack of a better description. Master Numbers tend to bring intense challenges and karmic responsibilities, with heightened spiritual awareness (or at least the potential for it). In contrast, power numbers tend to offer a double whammy of the original number, without the same power and intensity of life challenges as Master Numbers. Power numbers are double-digit numbers: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99. The strongest power numbers are the Master Numbers (11, 22, and 33). Some debate whether 33 is a Master or Power Number; however, David Phillips (a student of Pythagorean numerology) is adamant that 33 is NOT a master number and is instead a power number. He notes that modern numerologists call it a Master Number. As an example of why these are called power numbers, we can explore the number 66: you can see a duplication of the energy of 6; however, when reduced to a single digit, 6+6=12, 1+2=3. The 66 vibration includes the energy of 6 and 3. This means we see complexity from the start because 6 is considered a feminine energy number, while 3 is considered masculine. A person with 66 carries attributes of both 3 and 6. A reminder that life path numbers, or ruling numbers, are not stand-alone speakers of a person's path—their Astro and birthday (and how their numbers fill their birth chart) will also matter and reveal insight and information.

Power Number 44
Key Words: Practical, Cautious, Dependable, Karma
The 44 is a power number because it reduces to 8. It carries a double whammy of number four energies—organisational, management, practical, dependable, and reliable—along with the energy of the number 8: business, goal-focused, and visionary. The 44 carries a karmic vibration and usually involves repayment of a karmic debt. They repay the debt through service to humanity, carrying inner knowledge and a desire to work for humanity, often through community projects. As practical people, they gravitate toward industries such as health professions, especially medical abroad-type projects, and volunteer in areas where there is deprivation or a lack of capacity for people to access services. You will rarely find them working in the spiritual fields or mental health fields, because they focus on basic survival and helping people survive in what they see as the most important way: addressing physical problems here and now. This might mean working with children, but not necessarily in teaching fields unless it is hands-on and includes an activity. Whatever hurdles the 44 encounters, they have the internal fortitude, self-discipline, and common sense to surpass them. They also have leadership ability, especially regarding humanitarian projects. Greed has no part in this vibration; the greater good for all underpins it. A personal challenge they may face is that, because they are so practical, they may ignore the universal mystery and the reality of psychic phenomena. Just because something is not physically tangible does not make it false, although the 44 prefers concrete proof and evidence over ideas. Traits include shrewd decision-making, a unique perspective on problem-solving, resourcefulness, adaptability to changing circumstances, and the ability to endure as part of achieving their ambitions. Together, these qualities make them successful manifesters, often with a Midas touch, because they are not too proud to work hard to achieve their goals. They are the type of person who is reliable and who can cope with emergencies. People with the 44 would be encouraged to pursue activities such as meditation and mindfulness to help balance their lives and maximise their intuitive abilities.
Power Number 55

The 55 is a power number because it reduces to 10/1. Both the numbers 5 and 1 carry masculine energy, with the power of the mind, practical, logical and rational. As with all the Power Numbers, the path and inner calling are to improve the quality of life for all humanity. The 55 person can think laterally (outside the box) and takes a unique approach to problem solving. As with the singular 5, freedom and independence are still attributes, but with the leadership attributes of the 1, they become the most unconventional, adventurous, freedom-loving of all people. The 55 can break through problems by aiming high, often into new territory. It's a combination of drive and ambition which is second to none. It has inventive imagination and an awareness that words and speech have power, and it is well suited to communication and learning. The 55 has a thirst for knowledge and can process information with great ease. They have a highly developed learning ability and mental agility that suit them well for research and applying new information as practical wisdom. This leads them into expansive realms of thought, truth, and understanding, offering exceptional insight and inspiration, and they become adepts at finding solutions to all problems. The 55 has a strong sense of fair play and justice, and they are advised never to compromise their principles. The 55 is encouraged to maintain life balance and use meditation to ensure their abundant energy is directed constructively; an imbalance can lead to aggressive, impulsive behaviours. The 55 should always focus on translating their knowledge into practical, helpful information and communicating it to others; because they have a great deal of optimism, they are well suited as motivational coaches.

The 66 is a power number because it reduces to 3. It combines the vibration of 6—feminine, nurturing, creative, loving, emotional, and aware of life cycles—with the traits of 3, a masculine, logical number with mental acuity and agility. Basically, the 66 is about putting intuitive hunches into action. As with all Power Numbers, it focuses on humanitarian endeavours and actions that benefit the planet; for the 66, this often shows up in environmental or sustainability projects. They appreciate structure, and they bring light and pleasure to people's lives through their presence because they can be incredibly humorous and lighthearted. Their traits are honesty, practicality, thoughtfulness, and responsibility. They are compassionate people who inspire faith and hope in others and help shine a light on the darkest days. Generally, they have a strong sense of rhythm, harmony, and balance, along with an inner knowledge of nature's laws. The 66 have a very strong moral sense, and they believe in justice, with fairness and equity as core qualities and desires. They can achieve financial security and wisdom. They make loyal friends and companions and are constantly expressing their emotions. Financially, they can be quite frugal and unafraid to scrimp and save because they have a practical business sense. They work best with structures that are not only functional but pleasing to the eye. Beauty and the earth's resources are subjects close to their heart. They may not realise that their presence shines a light on others' paths through inspiration, and that their attitude of service is grounded in love. They are the kind of people who can sit quietly with someone on a ‘dark day’ and, in the darkness, find something amazing in what others consider nothing. “Look at that bird flying in the sky and gliding—isn’t nature amazing?” A simple question can distract a person from misery, open their eyes to the beauty of nature and the marvel of creation, and open them to entirely new ways of looking, living, and being.
Power Number 66

The 77 is a Power Number that combines the vibration of the duplicated 7 with the vibration of the number 5. Both numbers carry masculine energies of action and the power of the mind, intellect, teaching, and sharing wisdom and knowledge gained from experience. However, the number 77 adds complexity because it reduces first to 14, then to 5. The 77 also carries an element of repaying karmic debt through leadership. People born with a 77 will not escape sacrifice as a core component, which is also the catalyst for growth. It is not all sadness and sorrow, though, because the 77 is a deeply spiritual number; it carries a level of seriousness and blends it with the freedom-loving, adventurous 5. The 77 is unlikely to listen to or pay attention to religious dogma and instead will find new ways of using energy to achieve their spiritual goals and growth. They may travel the world, seeking different cultures and ways of worship, then share what they learn and innovative approaches with others. They do well as teachers, largely because they are excellent students of life and academics. Their primary challenge will be sharing what they've learned in a way that benefits humanity. They may achieve this goal by writing books or offering workshops. Financially, the 77 can do very well, and the number is associated not just with intellect but also with the accumulation of wealth and, because of their humanitarian conscience, philanthropic activities. Realistically, most of the philanthropy would be through their gifts of time, by way of teaching, perhaps as motivational speakers at charity organisations.
Power Number 77
Power Number 88
Key Words: Abundance, Karma, Continuity, Power
The 88 is an interesting power number because it first reduces to 16, then further reduces to 7. In this sequence, it carries the feminine vibrations of 8 and 6, then the masculine vibration of 1 and 7. With this power number, you cannot escape repaying karmic debt. The 88 carries extraordinary personal power because it duplicates the Visionary power while also promoting the spiritual growth of the 7, which offers expansive soul growth for the person with the number. Because of the manifestation potential of 88, it is understandable if a person directs their efforts toward material pursuits and financial gain; however, that would be misguided and would most likely result in significant loss and loneliness. The purpose is to support humanity and self-motivation, and selfishness at the cost of the purpose will only incur further negative karma. Fortunately, most 88s are driven by community and collective conscience, and their inherent traits make them great managers and project leaders. They can often feel burdened by responsibility (but have the inner substance to endure). They make exceptional coordinators – and their intellect is one that, because of the lateral thinking they can almost predict from an intuitive perspective, the potential for problems and put in place diversionary tactics. This is generally because the fields they work in involve many people who will be impacted by poor leadership performance. They are aware of the potential negative consequences of actions and inactions. Often, they find themselves supporting people who would not normally be supported. For instance, if they work on a humanitarian project, they might support the workers so they can better work with the clients.

The number 99 is an interesting number that carries both masculine and feminine vibration. However, 99 is highly masculine and only slightly balanced by the feminine 8. 99 reduces to 18, which further reduces to 9. Its energy, like all Power numbers, is about humanitarianism and global consciousness. It combines love and tolerance for people worldwide. It carries a unique combination of self-sacrifice and non-materialism, even rejecting worldly concerns. It is a pragmatic and visionary number with ambitious qualities for activism. These people are not too afraid to get involved in metaphysical pursuits, including healing. They are often found as the ‘Teacher of Teachers’, and in other instances as the “Healer of Healers”. The number 9 is associated with prophecy and channelling spirit messages. This number combination is extremely rare. They would be well suited to anything drawing upon energy as part of their humanitarian efforts - psychic channelling, mediums, or spiritual counsellors. As the energy of the 99 is about leaving behind material pursuits and unconventional non-conformity to pursue the humanitarian vision they hold, they will likely face significant trials as they are directed and guided toward their purpose.
Power Number 99
The 'Number" Zero
Zero is symbolic rather than numeric. As a number, it represents ‘nothing’; as a symbol, it represents everything (infinity). It represents the mystical qualities of life and the degree of spiritual mysticism carried by the person born with zero, though these capacities are rarely developed. Zero indicates psychic potential and the capacity to develop spiritual and metaphysical gifts. A single zero is a real blessing for anyone. However, while one zero (such as in October) is a benefit and helps lift the veil, more zeros on the birth chart mean greater responsibility to ensure positive karma. Multiple zeros on a birth date present real-life challenges for the bearer of the numbers (and this is true for those born in the 21st century, such as in the year 2000). The zero is somewhat deceptive for those with multiple zeros, because they tend to be endowed with excellent intuitive gifts (at least) and some manifestation powers; however, misusing those gifts for self-gain is the real issue, and where karma comes into play. Those with one or more zeros on their birth chart should recognise their inherent spiritual capacity, as it allows them the potential to understand many deeper aspects of life, such as their life purpose, the power of thought and the process of reincarnation, much earlier than other people. To be specific, the more zeros in the birth date, the fewer numbers on the birth chart and the more lessons the person has to experience.
