Adamite is a crystal that is generally a vibrant yellow or lime green, and contains arsenic. It is quite soft, with a hardness of 3.5 on the Mohs scale, and often exhibits green fluorescence under UV light. It is also quite brittle and fragile. Its major deposits are Mexico, Namibia and Greece. It is popular as a collector's specimen; however, because it is believed to possess metaphysical healing properties, it can sometimes be found as jewellery or carved and polished. Other colours can include (but are less common): white, colourless, honey-yellow, brownish, rose-red, blue, and purple.

Metaphysical Attributes
Adamite is believed to bridge the heart and solar plexus chakras, making it a perfect tool of manifestation. It is considered a highly spiritual crystal that helps walk the ‘divine path’ and supports navigating life challenges in ways that align with the Divine Plan and a brotherhood/sisterhood consciousness. If people are struggling to process emotional challenges and feel they have ‘lost their purpose’, Adamite is believed to help overcome and release the pain of the past, reinvigorating positivity and the achievement of life purpose. The shades of green in your Adamite will determine where the highest potential of the crystal lies. For instance, the verdant and grass green types of adamite will accentuate connection to the Earth and Nature Kingdom, those bright lime/yellow green colours will accentuate function of the Higher Heart Chakra and support healing anxiety and feelings of betrayal, as well as strengthen the solar plexus chakra.

Crystal Care
Adamite is toxic because it contains arsenic. Care should be taken with handling and storing it, to avoid poisoning -and this means ensuring that dust particles are not inhaled as well. Hobby jewellery makers should avoid working with Adamite unless they are trained on how to use safety equipment (including a mask) to prevent inhaling toxic fibres. If you work with Adamite for metaphysical purposes, such as meditation, make sure you wash your hands properly after each use, especially before touching your face or eating. Adamite should be stored properly in a cabinet away from children and pets, and should never be used for elixirs (especially water-immersion elixirs). If your adamite needs to be cleaned (of dust or fingerprints/oils), avoid using water, as this can damage the specimens. Dust can be removed with compressed air, and a dust cloth is usually perfectly suitable. Do not use harsh chemicals or acids. A soft crystal - it is quite fragile and easy to scratch, so it needs to be stored away from other harder minerals to protect it from damage. Cabochons and so forth need to be set in protective settings. Metaphysically, it can be cleared and recharged by using your selenite or satin spar, by smudging and incense, or by placing it under the full moon. Avoid putting it out overnight if there is moisture content in the air. You might also use sound, such as tuning forks or bowls, to clear, cleanse, and recharge your adamite.
